Who We Are

Editorial philosophy

We believe a resort review should read like good travel journalism: observant, specific, and honest about trade-offs.

Dealbonuspoint publishes independent reviews of premium hotel and resort hospitality in Canada. We write for travellers who want more than a star rating — readers who care how a room is lit at nine in the evening, whether breakfast service holds up on a full house, and what the walk to the water actually feels like.

We are not the official website of any property, hotel brand, resort operator or gaming company, and we do not claim affiliation with one. Dealbonuspoint reviews the Dealbonuspoint resort concept on editorial terms, the same way a magazine critic approaches a subject: with standards, context and a willingness to say what falls short.

How We Work

Review methodology

Every published rating reflects a structured assessment across the whole guest journey. We weight what guests actually feel — comfort, service, atmosphere — over what photographs well.

01

Immerse

We evaluate the full arc of a stay — arrival, the room over consecutive nights, dining at different hours, public spaces busy and quiet.

02

Assess

Each category is scored on defined criteria: comfort, design, cleanliness, service consistency, value relative to positioning.

03

Contextualise

Scores are weighed against the property's segment and setting — a lodge is judged as a lodge, not against a city flagship.

The Checklist

What we evaluate

Our reviews examine every layer of the resort experience:

  • Accommodation — bed quality, acoustics, lighting, bathrooms, storage, wear and upkeep
  • Architecture & interiors — how the building sits in its landscape and how materials age
  • Dining — room design, menu coherence, pacing, breakfast standards, dietary flexibility
  • Wellness & leisure — pool and spa atmosphere, treatment quality, fitness provision, outdoor options
  • Entertainment — evening programming, lounges and the tone of the resort's livelier spaces
  • Service — warmth, consistency, recovery when things go wrong
  • Location & surroundings — natural setting, seasonal appeal, what lies beyond the gates

Hospitality standards

We hold properties to the standards their positioning implies. A premium rate creates premium obligations: consistent housekeeping, working amenities, honest photography and service that does not collapse at peak occupancy. Where a property meets that bar, we say so. Where it doesn't, we say that too.

Images & information

Photography on this site is chosen to reflect the atmosphere and standard of the resort experience being reviewed. Images are illustrative of the editorial concept rather than a property inventory, and are cleaned of embedded metadata before publication. Descriptions reflect our assessment of the experience; where details may vary — seasonal operations, availability, programming — we note that rather than overstate.

Responsible gaming principles

Resort properties in this category often include gaming among their amenities. Our position is straightforward: gaming is entertainment, never a financial strategy. We publish responsible gaming guidance alongside our reviews, maintain a visible 18+ notice, and will not frame any form of gambling as a reason to visit on its own. Guests who find gambling difficult to control should seek professional support — resources exist across Canada, and using them is a strength, not a failure.
